Description

A Traditional style 18′ diameter Native American Tipi for 4 – 5 people or even up to 6 if you bring your own roll-out camping mats rather than booking mattresses. Our MEDIUM Tipis always come with a canvas door, an inner liner, and either an external rain hat or an internal rain catcher.

Your accommodation will be set up for you and will be simply furnished with:

  • Waterproof groundsheet
  • Floor covering
  • Entrance mat and waste bin
  • an LED Lantern

Can I add a Furnishings Package and/or Beds & Bedding?

Yes, you can. Every group is unique, and sometimes people want just Beds & Bedding or just Furnishings, sometimes it’s a bit of everything, and sometimes folks just prefer to bring their own gear.

We offer Beds (with OR without Bedding) as separate items so you can customise your order to be exactly what you need.

  • If you don’t want to order beds and bedding you can bring your own.
  • You can order just a mattress to go with your own sleeping bag / bedding & pillow.
  • Or, for ultimate ease, you can order a mattress that includes all the bedding (sheet, pillow in a case, duvet in a cover and a blanket.)

Have a look at the Extra Options tab for more information.

Beds & Bedding options

We offer Single or Double beds. These can be just the foam/futon style mattress or can include all the bedding, including a sheet, a 13.5 tog duvet in a duvet cover, a pillow in a pillowcase (per person) and a recycled wool blanket.

They are laid simply on the ground, camping-style.

Bear in mind that fitting rectangles inside circles isn’t straightforward, so you need to choose a bed configuration from the options on the drop down menu, as we know that these ones work. If you don’t see what you want in the options, it may be that the arrangement doesn’t work – but do use our contact form to ask, as it may simply be that that option is so popular that it’s out of stock.

And if you’re choosing a mix of Beds with Bedding and Mattresses for use with your own bedding, just remember to work to the maximum total in our suggested arrangements for either option.

Furnishings – Simple or Classic Furnishings.

Simple furnishings are what’s always included with your order, and which you can build on:

  • Heavy-duty Waterproof groundsheet and carpet flooring
  • Entrance mat and waste bin
  • an LED Lantern

Add Classic Furnishings – Includes everything in Simple Furnishings plus:

  • Handmade decorative rugs
  • Large floor cushions to sit on
  • A low rosewood table, about the size you’d have at a bedside
  • a small mirror

What exactly is a 12v USB Charger Table?

It’s a 12v battery built into one of our small rosewood tables, with USB sockets and an old fashioned car charger socket, too.

With it, you can keep your phone and other small gadgets charged all weekend. The Charger table also provides high quality illumination at the flick of switch. We introduced these to our hire range back in 2012, and they’ve been a popular choice ever since.

A Charger table provides approx 120-200 watt-hours of low voltage DC electricity, which is enough for:

  • around 100 hours of light using the built-in lights
  • 20 to 30 charges of a 2019 smartphone
  • 10 to 20 charges of a typical tablet
  • 50+ charges of a camera battery
  • 10 hours running of a small fan
  • You may also charge a medium sized laptop twice provided you aren’t using the power table too much for other appliances.

You will need to bring suitable adapters for your gadgets – the table comes with 2 x 5V USB sockets and a single 12V car accessory socket. USB-C fast charging is currently not supported however charging will still work at a slower rate.

The Charger table is not suitable for appliances with high power draw. Typically, any car appliance that instructs you to ‘run engine when in use’ will be unsuitable, as well as anything that heats, cools, or has a large battery that needs charging.

Here’s a list of what NOT to use the table for:

  • 12V kettles
  • 12V fridges
  • 12V space heaters
  • hair dryers
  • professional video cameras
  • large laptops
  • drone batteries
  • 15 inch or larger TV’s and TV game consoles

Airbed inflators are fine, however, as they are typically only used briefly.

We don’t recommend using a 240v inverter as they waste a lot of electricity and can be a shock hazard when even slightly damp, however, we realise that they can be useful on occasion, so if you bring one use it sparingly.

Including a Fire Dish for an authentic taste of Tipi living

Our MEDIUM, and LARGE Traditional Tipis are designed to have an open fire at the heart, bringing warmth, light and an elemental focal point. For this reason, our canvas is treated to meet British Standards for fire resistance, and our insurance allows for fires in our structures. Unfortunately, very few of the locations where we bring our Tipis carry the insurance to allow fires, so when we can offer them, it’s quite a special opportunity.

A fire brings a Tipi to life, and makes your stay a timeless experience. There are some important things to bear in mind, though, for SAFETY:

    • The fire must NEVER be left to burn unsupervised.
    • Keep the Fire Extinguisher provided close to hand.
    • You must keep the fire to a modest, appropriate size. This is important for a number of reasons, such as avoiding overheating, and making efficient use of fuel, but especially to avoid any embers or burning pieces falling from the fire dish, and to keep the fire from getting too large to easily control.
    • Your fire dish will be placed in the correct position, and upon concrete slabs. You must not move it to a different location inside the Tipi. If you would like to move your fire dish to the outside of your Tipi instead of having it inside, please ask one of our team to do this for you. Bear in mind that this must be done when the fire dish is cold and there is no fire in it.
    • You must only burn dry, seasoned wood; preferably hardwood. This will help to ensure you don’t have excessive smoke, and that you are actually getting heat rather than simply burning off moisture. It will also reduce the likelihood of sparks.
    • You must leave adequate space around the fire dish for everyone to move past easily, without brushing against it or being at risk from falling embers. Generally, think of the space the fire occupies as being equivalent to a person. And if you have Luxury Furnishings as well as a fire dish, then work to the lower end of the recommended occupancy of your Tipi.
    • Don’t be afraid to ask for help from our Team if you find that the Tipi is getting a bit smoky. There is a bit of an art to adjusting the smoke flaps if there is a change in the wind direction, and we are there to help you be confident and comfortable with your fire.

You will get a bag of wood (plus some kindling and firelighters) with your fire dish. This should easily last one night, and even up to 2 nights if you are careful with it, but you can order an extra bag if you’d like to.

Order information

What to expect when you stay us:

The Green Gathering invites you to share 4 days of low impact living in an area of outstanding beauty, every corner bursting with music, creativity, natural abundance and community spirit.

Hearthworks is delighted to be able to welcome you to stay with us in our Tipis at the Green Gathering. You can stay in your accommodation for 4 nights at Chepstow, Monmouthshire. Arrival is available at any time from midday on Thursday 31st of July 2025, and you then need to leave by midday on Monday the 4th of August 2025.

Your accommodation will be ready for you & waiting when you arrive. You can just drop your bags inside and head out to meet up with friends immediately, or you can have a little snooze after your journey. You just need to come to our Reception point with the Lead Name of your booking and the Order Reference number. You’ll then be shown to your accommodation. It’s all very simple, and you don’t all need to arrive at the same time.

We don’t offer cooking facilities, but you are welcome to bring your own camping stove and to use it mindfully (and with the door open for safe airflow) to ensure you don’t damage the canvas or flooring. All of our canvas is treated to meet British Standards for fire resistance, and our insurance allows for fires in our structures.

You will have access to Toilets and Showers during your stay. These are provided by the event rather than ourselves, who also arrange things like where our area is and the parking.

How do I find my accommodation on our arrival?

We send a Welcome email out a few days before the event, with arrival details and helpful information. We include a site map if the event has provided one, as well as specific details of how to find our onsite reception team.

When can I arrive and when must I leave by?

Your accommodation will be ready for you from the time the event opens to the time it closes.

Please be aware that you are still in the great outdoors and you will be staying in a festival field. Here are some things which we advise that you bring with you:

Torch – extra lighting to help you when you get back to your tent at night is very helpful.

Warm clothes even though its summer, the weather can still get cold.

Sensible footwear – you will be walking through festival fields, so sensible / waterproof footwear is advised.

Extra blanket – even if you book accommodation with bedding included you may wish to bring extra blankets to keep you warm at night. British summer nights can be chilly.
